Happy Mothers Day to me

UPDATE:
My mom always writes really sweet birthday posts over at her blog for all her kids and kidS in law and grandkids. Since Todd recently had a birthday she just wrote one for him. You can check it out here.

Just so I don't forget this I'm writing it down. Whenever Todd says something and wants to make a point about it he follows it with "and you can write that in your journal". Well I don't have a journal, but I have a blog, so I'm writing this one down for my benefit.

My husband is not a fan of what he calls "hallmark holidays" so I wasn't expecting much if anything for my first mothers day. So before we went to bed on Saturday I told him for mothers day I wanted him to get up with Anthony in the morning so I could sleep in late. (One of the things I love about Todd is his funny, sarcastic, off the tip of his tongue one liners, unless of course they are directed towards me.) His response to my request was, "why would you want to celebrate being a mother by not being a mother?" So he got me there, but lucky for me, mothers day comes before fathers day, so when Father's day rolls around next month, I'll be sure Todd gets to fully embrace being a dad.

He did clean the kitchen and dining room and living room for me though, including unloading and loading the dishwasher which is huge for him. He then of course gave me a tour of his handiwork pointing out everything he cleaned. He did such a good job I think I'll just let him do it all the time. Ha ha.

Anyway, I love being a mother, and I love my little boy to pieces. (who is grunting and getting all red in the face right now) I think 5 months is the best age so far, he is so happy all the time, it doesn't take much to make him smile, and he is so easy going. Oh and don't forget the naps, he naps great! 3 a day. Now if I can just get him to sleep through the night:) Just having him is gift enough for me. But maybe I should go get myself a gift anyway, you know for all my hard work. I'm thinking about one of these.

Okay, I better go investigate what all that grunting was about.

Wow! You can lean down from the heights of your high heeled sandals, while balancing a chubby baby on your hip, and fold that stroller up with one hand? Without falling down?

My first MD, my ex did buy me a piece of jewelry (a gold charm for my bracelet in the shape of a girl silouette with her birthdate engraved - I showed him what I wanted. He blew it though as he went over to friend's to babysit their 17 month old daughter so Bill could take Ruth out to dinner. I stayed home with the baby (a little ovr 2 months), took care of her, did housework and cooked dinner for myself.

I think you should get the fancy baby jogger.

Belle of madison - yup I think I can do it!

Tina - that doesn't have anything to do with why he's an ex does it? :)

Yes, get the stroller. But, you can still borrow mine for a few days if you want to try it out first.

Looks like a good mother's day gift from Anthony to his mommy.

No, that's not the reason he's my ex.

Glad you had a good moms day. Cleaning the house is HUGE, I'll take that over a card any day.
Theres a really good (and funny) article in Parents magazine this month about baby's sleeping through the night. I'm really enjoying that mag.

A clean house is a huge gift - I'm still waiting (the vacuum did finally get downstairs though!).

Glad you had a good first Mother's Day!

Your husband and I are in the same boat regarding the "Hallmark Holidays". Sounds quite convenient that you don't mind - and have a sense of humor!

I have visited your blog before, but was a little confused about how you fit into the puzzle (like why I noticed you commenting on all the blogs I comment on....I searched in vain for the "Russia connection")....NOW I understand!

Your baby is absolutely adorable!

I'm with you on getting the stroller... Still haven't decided what to get myself for Mother's Day. It's now Thursday and my husband still doesn't realize that he completely blew it off! (Granted, we're in Russia--so there aren't the reminders everywhere--but CERTAINLY there were reminders on the msn/google page...)

I hear Todd and Annie about "Hallmark" holidays--but somehow, as my husband slept in until past 1 p.m.... The fact that many mothers all throught the USA had gotten breakfast in bed *did* start to annoy me. (Okay, that being said, most of those moms had to then go clean up the kitchen that their kids and hubbies had probably trashed, while possibly making them breakfast food that didn't taste so great... BUT...)
