Flight of ideas

Flight of ideas is a continuous flow of rapid speech that jumps from topic to topic, usually based on loose associations, distractions, or plays on words, but in severe cases so rapid as to be disorganized and incoherent. (A symptom often associated with bipolar, schizophrenia and ADHD)

In case your wondering, I don't have bipolar, schizophrenia or ADHD. I became familiar with the term flight of ideas in nursing school during my psych rotation, and for some reason I like the term and I use it loosely in reference to myself sometimes when I feel like I have a flight of random ideas (thoughts) running through my mind.

Be careful what you wish for... I have been off work the last 5 days and working really hard at getting Tony to sleep through the night. We have made huge progress. Sunday and Monday night he only woke up one time to eat quickly and go back to bed. Then last night, he went to bed at 7:30pm and didn't wake up until 5:30am. (applause) The problem was, he had 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep and he was so rested he wouldn't go back to bed. So I was up at 5:30 as well. Hmm, I think I liked it better when he woke up at 3 or 4 to eat and then went back to sleep until 8. I guess we will see what happens over the next few days, but hopefully 5:30 does not become his new wake up time.

But wow, when you get up that early, your day is so much longer and you can be so much more productive. Tony and I went for a 5 mile run and ate breakfast all before 9am.

The down side to getting up that early is that Tony's schedule was all screwed up and he was kind of grumpy this morning when we went to get professional photos taken at the beach. Which by the way, all of you who told me that T******** beach is just over the bridge, were wrong. There are quite a few more turns after the bridge and I'm lucky I found the place, my GPS was of no help either. Tony did not act like his usual happy smiling self. He didn't like the sand, he immediately got it in his mouth, and he didn't like the sun in his eyes either. Lucky for me I hired an excellent photographer and she managed to get some great shots despite his lack of cooperation. One of my favorites is in his swimsuit down by the water with the Lighthouse and Pier in the background. I hope his Grandma's and Aunties want pictures cause I ordered a lot. There were so many good ones to choose from. I want to go back some evening when it isn't too sunny and take some family pictures. It's such a good photo spot. Maybe I can get my sister Francie to take the pictures.

On my way home I was so excited to see that gas was only $3.91, I stopped to fill up and the car wasn't even on empty. It was just such a good deal I couldn't resist. Isn't that funny? $3.91 a good deal? I remember back when I first started driving and gas was only 99 cents per gallon.
Which was only 15 years ago. For some reason, the fact that I've only been driving for 15 years makes me feel young.

Then when I got home... I discovered my dog had torn into the trash again! I am so tired of coming home to find shreds of the trash bag all over the kitchen floor. Our trash can is in the cupboard so you have to open the cupboard and the trash can is in a wire holder, so he pulls at the bag until he can either completely pull it out, or just shreds the bag to pieces. Either way, it makes me very mad. I even put stuff in front of the trash door so he can't easily get to it, and he manages to push it away every time. Seriously, I can't take it anymore. If I come home one more time and he has gotten into it again I am getting his old crate out and that is where he will go when I am not home.

Did I mention I already ran today? I have the whole day to not have to worry about the when, if and how I'm going to fit in a run. Such a good feeling. I guess if Tony continues with the early morning wake up time, the one plus is that he and I can go running before it gets hot outside.

Oh and one more thing for all you runners or walkers out there. Did you know you can go to www.mapmyrun.com and it will measure the distance you ran. It even had my little rural dead end streets on there. It is so cool, I can't believe I didn't know about this website before. You can also put in your stats, like height, weight, age and time and it will give you your distance, pace and calories burned. It's very cool, if your a runner you should definitely check it out.

Sounds like a very productive day, Lor! When will you get those pictures, 'cause I want to see them soon! That beach is the same beach I took Katie and Ben twice in the last two weeks and you're right, it is great for photos!

Great news on Tony sleeping. that is huge. Yes, he will go for 12 hours soon. Sometimes Hannah wakes up at 6 a.m. and fusses for less than a minute then goes back to sleep on her own until 7 or 7:30.
That IS a good price on gas. We have to pay 4.69 out here. luckily I don't have to fill up too often.

The last time I checked over the weekend, regular gas (pump your own) was $4.45. I remember my first job out of college when I was driving a VW convertible and it cost just over $3 for a fill-up. Of course, my salary was around $6,500/year.

Can't wait to see some of the pictures of Tony at the beach on your blog.

Yes, it's amazing what you can get done when you are up before dawn. Your husband must keep similar hours during growing season.

Wow. Good job on the five miles. I was wondering if you entered your miles wrong on the sidebar cause all of a sudden you're way ahead of me. Guess maybe not.

I better get going today.

Can't wait to see the pictures!

Hey, can you send some of your energy over my way?!

Yeah, I'd like some of that energy too. We're routinely up before 6 and I have NEVER ONCE felt the urge to even get off the couch and do anything productive (much less run 5 miles) that early.

Congrats on the sleep thing.

Do you have a link to the pics? I would love to see them!
