Lovin Cabo

Bella can pull herself up now. And thanks to my blog archives I can tell you that she did this one month sooner than her brother did.

We've been in Cabo for 2 days now and I am loving the place were staying at. It is a house with a pool overlooking the ocean. The ocean is just a short walk down the driveway and your on the beach. The waves are too rough to actually get in the ocean, but we've been down to play in the sand. We were told there is a cove with calm waters for swimming just a few minute walk away, but we haven't explored that far yet.

The pool was nice and warm when we got here the first day, and the next morning it was BRRR cold, so the boys figured out that the heater was on a timer (probably to save the owners money) and they turned the timer off and turned the heat up. By the end of the day yesterday the pool was 95 degrees! It was so nice, but I made them turn it back down just a bit. We decided on 91.

At the end of the pool they have a "kiddie pool" which is really a hot tub with the heat off. We specifically asked if it was a hot tub and they said no, so we are guessing we aren't supposed to crank up the heat, but leave it to the boys to figure it out, we got that part up to 99 degrees.

They have a chef here that you can hire to come into the villa and cook for you but the prices are high so we planned on doing most of the cooking ourselves, but after the first trip to the groccery store and eating grilled ham and cheese sandwiches for our first dinner here, we decided we might want that cook after all. It also just so happens to be low season here, although I don't know why, it's perfect weather, but we haven't seen hardly anyone around, the beach is empty, it's like our own private vacation. So the good part of that is that we were able to work a good price out with the Chefs, and our second dinner her was way better, we had beef fajita's, fried rice, beans, fresh guacamole, and homemade salsa, (and they even made me a special vegetable stirfry without the meat). In Jamaica where I've been before and we have a cook, we buy the groceries and they cook the food. Here, they bring it all with them. It was really nice and stress free and so good. Way better then going to a restraraunt with 3 babies.

The kids are having fun, Bella and Tony are getting along with Taylor. They play together in the house with the very few toys we brought along. They all seem to like the tractors the best of all the toys, they usually fight for it. As for all the books we brought, they all seem to want the same book, a book that Taylor brought called "My little word book". They all 3 want to read it. So one book and a few tractors would have been suffice on the toys. Outside they are usually attached to an adult, but they all love the water.

Time change still hasn't kicked in yet, Bella starts our day at 6:30 and Taylor shortly follows, then Tony hears the two of them and wakes up too, and before long the whole house is up. We are usually done with breakfast and on the deck by 8:30. It's not bad though, cause it gets dark here early, usually by 6 the sun is set.

Anyway, speaking of Bella, she is sleeping in the laundry room, poor girl, but we have a 3 bedroom house, and Todd's mom came along to help with the kids so her and Tony are in one room, Brett and Jen and Taylor in another, and Todd and I were supposed to sleep with Bella, but Todd got the bright idea to stick her in the laudry room. Which actually is a good idea, but it kinda smells like detergent. Todd claims babies don't have a sense of smell like adults do so it wont bother her. I don't know if I believe that, but it is nice having her sleep there. His theory is based on the fact that they don't complain about a stinky diaper. So now it's a 3 bedroom villa with a bonus room!

Well I hear babies stirring so I better wrap this up. I hope you all appreciate the effort to blog, once you quit doing it, it's so much work!

Patio, Kids, and Brewster News

Earlier this summer I had it so good with coordinating kid naps, I could almost always get a couple hours of quiet time to myself each day. Now it seems they alternate so that one is always sleeping, or both are awake, but very rarely both sleeping. This makes it hard to get anything done at home or out of the house. Oh well, it is what it is... I'm sure in a few weeks the routine will change again, and if not, at least I know that farm season is coming to an end and Todd will be home more to help out with the kids. I am so looking forward to that, it's been a long summer.

The patio is almost complete, the only think lacking is one set of stairs and half of the floor. My dad flies back home to Oklahoma in 13 days, so lets hope the weather cooperates so he can get it all done. This has been what seems like a never ending project, and it is so good (especially for our pocket book) to finally see it coming to an end. I'm looking forward to being able to use it next summer. I think we will be spending a lot of time out there if Tony's love for being outside is still as strong as it is now. Bella will be running around too, so the two of them will have a grand time playing in the yard, while I sit on the patio relaxing.

Bella hit a milestone today, she finally rolled over. We were playing in the basement she was on her back on her play mat, I ran upstairs to get my phone, and when I came back she was on her tummy! I am so mad I missed it. But then shortly after that she rolled onto her back again, so she has officially rolled both ways. All in the same day. (See Rach, I told you she would do it when she's good and ready.)

Tony's vocabulary has exploded, he says so many words, I can't even begin to list all of them, and he repeats everything you say, it is so cute (most of the time). He is also starting to put words together like, Where'd it go?, up high, down low, let's go and Fruit Snacks! I just love listening to him talk, he has the cutest little voice. He is learning the meaning to words too. He knows book, milk, money, NO, hot, poop, Barney, Elmo, sister, car, truck, tractor, and the list goes on and on. He also loves to read books, he has his favorites, and we read them over and over and over and he never seems to tire of the same book (unlike me).

Buying fall clothes for the kids has become a challenge, Tony is 22 pounds, so weight wise he should be wearing 12-18 month clothes, but height wise he needs 18-24, Bella has the opposite problem, if they fit her in the waist/thighs they are too long. Poor kids, they are going to look like a bunch of ragamuffins this Fall.

Our dog Brewster went to the groomer the other day, and we were informed that he has fleas, and not just a few, but the second worse case the groomer has seen all summer! Now that is embarrassing, I didn't even know he had them, I never see him scratching. I used to be so good at putting the flee drops on him, but I guess I got a little lax about it this summer. So basically the groomer advised I flea bomb my house! Oh joy. I don't think my house was infested, but then again I didn't think the dog was either, so I figured better safe than sorry. You have to leave the house for 2 hours, and then vacuum, mop and clean all counter surfaces! I don't think I'll ever forget to medicate my dog again for fleas, that was a huge inconvenience, not to mention expensive. Thank goodness I kicked him out of my bed a few months ago!

Sunday

There aren't many days in the summer that Todd get's the day off AND the weather is nice. Today was one of those rare days. Well he didn't take the whole day off, but the afternoon at least. We decided to take the kids to the beach.


Anthony doesn't seem the least bit interested in the water, but he loves the sand, I think it's like a giant sandbox to him. They had a playground at the beach which was also a hit with Anthony.Bella had her first swing today and wasn't overly excited about it, but seemed to be okay with it.She looks like she's in a lazy boy recliner.We left the beach and headed for the downtown area to go for a stroll and get some ice cream. I wasn't planning on having any myself because I had decided to start my diet today, but then we saw this, and I had to give in. I mean really how often does something like this happen?

Anthony got to feed himself an ice cream cone for the first time. He made quite a mess but thoroughly enjoyed it, right down to the chocolate covered malt ball the SouthBend Chocolate Factory is famous for putting in the bottom of your ice cream cone. I had to wrestle it out of his hands and he was so mad at me. (I was worried he'd choke on it, I wasn't trying to steal it from him)
